Oración matutina — primera lectura

They came to Ecbatana, and arrived at the house of Raguel. But Sarah met them; and she greeted them, and they her. Then she brought them into the house. Raguel said to Edna his wife, “This young man really resembles Tobit my cousin!” And Raguel asked them, “Where are you two from, kindred?” They said to him, “We are of the sons of Naphtali, who are captives in Nineveh.” He said to them, “Do you know Tobit our brother?” They said, “We know him.” Then he said to them, “Is he in good health?” They said, “He is both alive, and in good health.” Tobias said, “He is my father.” And Raguel sprang up, and kissed him, wept, blessed him, and said to him, “You are the son of an honest and good man.” When he had heard that Tobit had lost his sight, he was grieved, and wept; and Edna his wife and Sarah his daughter wept. They received them gladly; and they killed a ram of the flock, and served them meat. But Tobias said to Raphael, “Brother Azarias, speak of those things of which you talked about in the way, and let the matter be finished.” So he communicated the thing to Raguel. Raguel said to Tobias, “Eat, drink, and make merry: for it belongs to you to take my child. However I will tell you the truth. I have given my child to seven men, and whenever they came in to her, they died in the night. But for the present be merry.” And Tobias said, “I will taste nothing here, until you all make a covenant and enter into that covenant with me.” Raguel said, “Take her to yourself from now on according to custom. You are her relative, and she is yours. The merciful God will give all good success to you.” And he called his daughter Sarah, and took her by the hand, and gave her to be wife of Tobias, and said, “Behold, take her to yourself after the law of Moses, and lead her away to your father.” And he blessed them. He called Edna his wife, then took a book, wrote a contract, and sealed it. Then they began to eat. And Raguel called his wife Edna, and said to her, “Sister, prepare the other chamber, and bring her in there.” She did as he asked her, and brought her in there. She wept, and she received the tears of her daughter, and said to her, “Be comforted, my child. May the Lord of heaven and earth give you favor for this your sorrow. Be comforted, my daughter.”
Oración matutina — segunda lectura
Y otra vez comenzó a enseñar junto a la mar, y se juntó a él una gran multitud, tanto que entrándose él en un barco, se sentó en la mar, y toda la multitud estaba en tierra junto a la mar. Y les enseñaba por parábolas muchas cosas, y les decía en su doctrina: Oíd: He aquí, el que sembraba salió a sembrar. Y aconteció sembrando, que una parte cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves del cielo, y la tragaron. Y otra parte cayó en pedregales, donde no tenía mucha tierra; y luego nació, porque no tenía la tierra profunda. Mas, salido el sol, se quemó; y por cuanto no tenía raíz se secó. Y otra parte cayó en espinas; y crecieron las espinas, y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto. Y otra parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto, que subió y creció; y llevó uno a treinta, y otro a sesenta, y otro a ciento. Entonces les dijo: El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. Y cuando estuvo solo le preguntaron, los que estaban al rededor de él con los doce, de la parábola. Y les dijo: A vosotros es dado saber el misterio del reino de Dios; mas a los que están fuera, por parábolas se les hace todo; Para que viendo, vean y no vean; y oyendo, oigan y no entiendan; porque no se conviertan, y les sean perdonados sus pecados. Y les dijo: ¿No sabéis esta parábola? ¿Cómo pues entenderéis todas las parábolas? El que siembra siembra la palabra. Y estos son los de junto al camino, en los que la palabra es sembrada; mas después que la oyeron, luego viene Satanás, y quita la palabra que fue sembrada en sus corazones. Y asimismo estos son los que son sembrados en pedregales; los que cuando han oído la palabra, luego la reciben con gozo; Mas no tienen raíz en sí, antes son temporales; que en levantándose la tribulación, o la persecución por causa de la palabra, luego se escandalizan. Y estos son los que son sembrados entre espinas; los que oyen la palabra; Mas las congojas de este siglo, y el engaño de las riquezas, y las codicias que hay en las otras cosas, entrando ahogan la palabra, y viene a quedar sin fruto. Y estos son los que fueron sembrados en buena tierra; los que oyen la palabra, y la reciben, y hacen fruto, uno a treinta, otro a sesenta, otro a ciento. Díjoles también: ¿Viene la luz para ser puesta debajo de un almud, o debajo de la cama? ¿No viene para ser puesta en el candelero? Porque no hay nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado; ni secreto, que no haya de venir en descubierto. Si alguno tiene oídos para oír, oiga. Díjoles también: Mirád lo que oís: Con la medida que medís, os medirán otros; y será añadido a vosotros los que oís. Porque al que tiene, le será dado; y al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado. Decía mas: Así es el reino de Dios, como si un hombre echase simiente en la tierra; Y durmiese y se levantase de noche y de día, y la simiente brotase y creciese como él no sabe. Porque la tierra de suyo frutifica, primero yerba, luego espiga, después grano lleno en la espiga. Y cuando el fruto fuere producido, luego se mete la hoz, porque la siega es llegada. También decía: ¿A qué haremos semejante el reino de Dios? ¿o con qué parábola le compararémos? Es como el grano de la mostaza, que cuando es sembrado en tierra es el más pequeño de todas las simientes que hay en la tierra; Mas cuando fuere sembrado, sube, y se hace la mayor de todas las legumbres; y hace grandes ramas, de tal manera que las aves del cielo puedan hacer nidos debajo de su sombra. Y con muchas tales parábolas les hablaba la palabra, conforme a lo que podían oír. Y sin parábola no les hablaba; mas a sus discípulos en particular declaraba todo. Y les dijo aquel día, cuando fue tarde: Pasemos a la otra parte. Y enviada la multitud, le tomaron así como estaba en la nave, y había también con él otros barquichuelos. Y se levantó una grande tempestad de viento, y echaba las ondas en la nave, de tal manera que ya se llenaba. Y él estaba en la popa durmiendo sobre un cabezal; y le despertaron, y le dicen: ¿Maestro, no te importa nada que perezcamos? Y levantándose él, riñó al viento, y dijo a la mar: Calla, enmudece. Y cesó el viento; y fue hecha grande bonanza. Y a ellos dijo: ¿Por qué estáis tan medrosos? ¿Cómo es que no tenéis fe? Y temieron con gran temor, y decían el uno al otro: ¿Quién es éste, que aun el viento y la mar le obedecen?

When they had finished their supper, they brought Tobias in to her. But as he went, he remembered the words of Raphael, and took the ashes of the incense, and put the heart and the liver of the fish on them, and made smoke with them. When the demon smelled that smell, it fled into the uppermost parts of Egypt, and the angel bound him. But after they were both shut in together, Tobias rose up from the bed, and said, “Sister, arise, and let us pray that the Lord may have mercy on us.” And Tobias began to say, “Blessed are you, O God of our fathers, and blessed is your holy and glorious name forever. Let the heavens bless you, and all your creatures. You made Adam, and gave him Eve his wife for a helper and support. From them came the seed of men. You said, it is not good that the man should be alone. Let us make him a helper like him. And now, O Lord, I take not this my sister for lust, but in truth. Command that I may find mercy and grow old with her.” She said with him, “Amen.” And they both slept that night. Raguel arose, and went and dug a grave, saying, “Lest he also should die.” And Raguel came into his house, and said to Edna his wife, “Send one of the maidservants, and let them see if he is alive. If not, we will bury him, and no man will know it.” So the maidservant opened the door, and went in, and found them both sleeping, and came out, and told them that he was alive. Then Raguel blessed God, saying, “Blessed are you, O God, with all pure and holy blessing! Let your saints bless you, and all your creatures! Let all your angels and your elect bless you forever! Blessed are you, because you have made me glad; and it has not happened me as I suspected; but you have dealt with us according to your great mercy. Blessed are you, because you have had mercy on two that were the only begotten children of their parents. Show them mercy, O Lord. Fulfill their life in health with gladness and mercy. He commanded his servants to fill the grave. He kept the wedding feast for them fourteen days. Before the days of the wedding feast were finished, Raguel sware to him, that he should not depart till the fourteen days of the wedding feast were fulfilled; and that then he should take half of his goods, and go in safety to his father; and the rest, said he, when my wife and I die.
Oración vespertina — segunda lectura
En cuanto a la colecta que se hace para los santos, hacéd vosotros también de la manera que yo ordené en las iglesias de Galacia. El primer día de la semana cada uno de vosotros ponga aparte algo, atesorándolo, según Dios le hubiere prosperado; para que cuando yo viniere, no se hagan entonces las colectas. Y cuando yo estuviere presente, los que aprobaréis por cartas, a estos enviaré que lleven vuestra gracia a Jerusalem. Y si fuere digno el negocio de que yo también vaya, irán conmigo. Empero a vosotros vendré, cuando pasare por Macedonia; porque por Macedonia tengo de pasar. Y podrá ser que me quedaré con vosotros, o invernaré también; para que vosotros me llevéis donde hubiere de ir. Porque no quiero ahora veros de paso; mas espero estar con vosotros algún tiempo, si el Señor lo permite. Empero estaré en Efeso hasta la Pentecostés. Porque se me ha abierto una puerta grande y eficaz; y muchos adversarios hay. Y si viniere Timoteo, mirád que esté con vosotros sin temor; porque la obra del Señor hace, como yo también. Por tanto nadie le tenga en poco; antes llevádle en paz, para que venga a mí; porque le espero con los hermanos. Cuanto al hermano Apólos, mucho le he rogado que fuese a vosotros con los hermanos; mas en ninguna manera tuvo voluntad de ir por ahora; mas irá cuando tuviere oportunidad. Velád, estád firmes en la fe: portáos varonilmente, y esforzáos. Todas vuestras cosas sean hechas con caridad. Ruégoos empero, hermanos, (ya sabéis la casa de Estéfanas que es las primicias de Acaya, y que se han dedicado al ministerio de los santos,) Que vosotros os sujeteis a los tales, y a todos los que nos ayudan, y trabajan. De la venida de Estéfanas y de Fortunato, y de Acaico, me huelgo; porque estos suplieron lo que faltaba de vuestra parte. Porque recrearon mi espíritu y el vuestro. Reconocéd pues a los tales. Las iglesias de Asia os saludan. Os saludan mucho en el Señor Aquila y Priscila, con la iglesia que está en su casa. Os saludan todos los hermanos. Saludáos los unos a los otros con santo beso. La salutación de mi propia mano, de Pablo. Si alguno no amare al Señor Jesu Cristo sea Anatema Maranatha. La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesu Cristo sea con vosotros.
