This is the book of the commandments of God, and the law that endures for ever: all those who hold it fast are appointed to life; but such as leave it shall die. Turn you, O Jacob, and take hold of it: walk towards her shining in the presence of the light thereof. Give not your glory to another, nor the things that are profitable to you to a strange nation. O Israel, happy are we: for the things that are pleasing to God are made known to us. Be of good cheer, my people, the memorial of Israel. You⌃ were sold to the nations, but not for destruction: because you⌃ moved God to wrath, you⌃ were delivered to your adversaries. For you⌃ provoked him that made you by sacrificing to demons, and not to God. You⌃ forgat the everlasting God, that brought you up; you⌃ grieved also Jerusalem, that nursed you. For she saw the wrath that is come upon you from God, and said, Hearken, you⌃ women that dwell about Sion: for God has brought upon me great mourning; for I have seen the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting has brought upon them. For with joy did I nourish them; but sent them away with weeping and mourning. Let no man rejoice over me, a widow, and forsaken of many: for the sins of my children am I left desolate; because they turned away from the law of God, and had no regard to his statutes, neither walked they in the ways of God’s commandments, nor trod in the paths of discipline in his righteousness. Let those who dwell about Sion come, and remember you⌃ the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting has brought upon them. For he has brought a nation upon them from far, a shameless nation, and of a strange language, who neither reverenced old man, nor pitied child. And they have carried away the dear beloved sons of the widow, and left her that was alone desolate of her daughters. But I, what can I help you? For he that brought these plagues upon you will deliver you from the hand of your enemies. Go your way, O my children, go your way: for I am left desolate. I have put off the garment of peace, and put upon me the sackcloth of my petition: I will cry to the Everlasting as long as I live. Be of good cheer, O my children, cry to God, and he shall deliver you from the power and hand of the enemies. For I have trusted in the Everlasting, that he will save you; and joy is come to me from the Holy One, because of the mercy which shall soon come to you from the Everlasting your Saviour. For I sent you out with mourning and weeping: but God will give you to me again with joy and gladness forever. For like as now those who dwell about Sion have seen your captivity: so shall they see shortly your salvation from our God, which shall come upon you with great glory, and brightness of the Everlasting. My children, suffer patiently the wrath that is come upon you from God: for your enemy has persecuted you; but shortly you shall see his destruction, and shall tread upon their necks. My delicate ones have gone rough ways; they were taken away as a flock carried off by the enemies. Be of good cheer, O my children, and cry to God: for you⌃ shall be remembered of him that has brought these things upon you. For as it was your mind to go astray from God: so, return and seek him ten times more. For he that brought these plagues upon you shall bring you everlasting joy again with your salvation. Be of good cheer, O Jerusalem: for he that called you by name will comfort you. Miserable are those who afflicted you, and rejoiced at your fall. Miserable are the cities which your children served: miserable is she that received your sons. For as she rejoiced at your fall, and was glad of your ruin: so shall she be grieved for her own desolation. And I will take away her exultation in her great multitude, and her boasting shall be turned into mourning. For fire shall come upon her from the Everlasting, long to endure; and she shall be inhabited of devils for a great time. O Jerusalem, look about you toward the east, and behold the joy that comes to you from God. Behold, your sons come, whom you sent away, they come gathered together from the east to the west at the word of the Holy One, rejoicing in the glory of God.

ANTES de la fiesta de la Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que su hora había venido para que pasase de este mundo al Padre, como había amado á los suyos que estaban en el mundo, amólos hasta el fin. Y la cena acabada, como el diablo ya había metido en el corazón de Judas, hijo de Simón Iscariote, que le entregase, Sabiendo Jesús que el Padre le había dado todas las cosas en las manos, y que había salido de Dios, y á Dios iba, Levántase de la cena, y quítase su ropa, y tomando una toalla, ciñóse. Luego puso agua en un lebrillo, y comenzó á lavar los pies de los discípulos, y á limpiarlos con la toalla con que estaba ceñido. Entonces vino á Simón Pedro; y Pedro le dice: ¿Señor, tú me lavas los pies? Respondió Jesús, y díjole: Lo que yo hago, tú no entiendes ahora; mas lo entenderás después. Dícele Pedro: No me lavarás los pies jamás. Respondióle Jesús: Si no te lavare, no tendrás parte conmigo. Dícele Simón Pedro: Señor, no sólo mis pies, mas aun las manos y la cabeza. Dícele Jesús: El que está lavado, no necesita sino que lave los pies, mas está todo limpio: y vosotros limpios estáis, aunque no todos. Porque sabía quién le había de entregar; por eso dijo: No estáis limpios todos. Así que, después que les hubo lavado los pies, y tomado su ropa, volviéndose á sentar á la mesa, díjoles: ¿Sabéis lo que os he hecho? Vosotros me llamáis, Maestro, y, Señor: y decís bien; porque lo soy. Pues si yo, el Señor y el Maestro, he lavado vuestros pies, vosotros también debéis lavar los pies los unos á los otros. Porque ejemplo os he dado, para que como yo os he hecho, vosotros también hagáis. De cierto, de cierto os digo: El siervo no es mayor que su señor, ni el apóstol es mayor que el que le envió. Si sabéis estas cosas, bienaventurados seréis, si las hiciereis. No hablo de todos vosotros: yo sé los que he elegido: mas para que se cumpla la Escritura: El que come pan conmigo, levantó contra mí su calcañar. Desde ahora os lo digo antes que se haga, para que cuando se hiciere, creáis que yo soy. De cierto, de cierto os digo: El que recibe al que yo enviare, á mí recibe; y el que á mí recibe, recibe al que me envió. Como hubo dicho Jesús esto, fué conmovido en el espíritu, y protestó, y dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que uno de vosotros me ha de entregar. Entonces los discípulos mirábanse los unos á los otros, dudando de quién decía. Y uno de sus discípulos, al cual Jesús amaba, estaba recostado en el seno de Jesús. A éste, pues, hizo señas Simón Pedro, para que preguntase quién era aquél de quien decía. El entonces recostándose sobre el pecho de Jesús, dícele: Señor, ¿quién es? Respondió Jesús: Aquél es, á quien yo diere el pan mojado. Y mojando el pan, diólo á Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón. Y tras el bocado Satanás entró en él. Entonces Jesús le dice: Lo que haces, haz lo más presto. Mas ninguno de los que estaban á la mesa entendió á qué propósito le dijo esto. Porque los unos pensaban, por que Judas tenía la bolsa, que Jesús le decía: Compra lo que necesitamos para la fiesta: ó, que diese algo á los pobres. Como él pues hubo tomado el bocado, luego salió: y era ya noche. Entonces como él salió, dijo Jesús: Ahora es glorificado el Hijo del hombre, y Dios es glorificado en él. Si Dios es glorificado en él, Dios también le glorificará en sí mismo, y luego le glorificará. Hijitos, aun un poco estoy con vosotros. Me buscaréis; mas, como dije á los Judíos: Donde yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir; así digo á vosotros ahora. Un mandamiento nuevo os doy: Que os améis unos á otros: como os he amado, que también os améis los unos á los otros. En esto conocerán todos que sois mis discípulos, si tuviereis amor los unos con los otros. Dícele Simón Pedro: Señor, ¿adónde vas? Respondióle Jesús: Donde yo voy, no me puedes ahora seguir; mas me seguirás después. Dícele Pedro: Señor, ¿por qué no te puedo seguir ahora? mi alma pondré por ti. Respondióle Jesús: ¿Tu alma pondrás por mí? De cierto, de cierto te digo: No cantará el gallo, sin que me hayas negado tres veces.

Put off, O Jerusalem, the garment of your mourning and affliction, and put on the comeliness of the glory that comes from God forever. Cast about you the robe of the righteousness which comes from God; set a diadem on your head of the glory of the Everlasting. For God will show your brightness to every region under heaven. For your name shall be called of God forever The peace of righteousness, and The glory of godliness. Arise, O Jerusalem, and stand upon the height, and look about you toward the east, and behold your children gathered from the going down of the sun to the rising thereof at the word of the Holy One, rejoicing that God has remembered them. For they went from you on foot, being led away of their enemies: but God brings them in to you borne on high with glory, as on a royal throne. For God has appointed that every high mountain, and the everlasting hills, should be made low, and the valleys filled up, to make plain the ground, that Israel may go safely in the glory of God. Moreover the woods and every sweet smelling tree have overshadowed Israel by the commandment of God. For God shall lead Israel with joy in the light of his glory with the mercy and righteousness that comes from him.

2 Timoteo 4

REQUIERO yo pues delante de Dios, y del Señor Jesucristo, que ha de juzgar á los vivos y los muertos en su manifestación y en su reino. Que prediques la palabra; que instes á tiempo y fuera de tiempo; redarguye, reprende; exhorta con toda paciencia y doctrina. Porque vendrá tiempo cuando ni sufrirán la sana doctrina; antes, teniendo comezón de oir, se amotonarán maestros conforme á sus concupiscencias, Y apartarán de la verdad el oído y se volverán á las fábulas. Pero tú vela en todo, soporta las aflicciones, haz la obra de evangelista, cumple tu ministerio. Porque yo ya estoy para ser ofrecido, y el tiempo de mi partida está cercano. He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe. Por lo demás, me está guardada la corona de justicia, la cual me dará el Señor, juez justo, en aquel día; y no sólo á mí, sino también á todos los que aman su venida. Procura venir presto á mí: Porque Demas me ha desamparado, amando este siglo, y se ha ido á Tesalónica; Crescente á Galacia, Tito á Dalmacia. Lucas solo está conmigo. Toma á Marcos, y traéle contigo; porque me es útil para el ministerio. A Tychîco envié á Efeso. Trae, cuando vinieres, el capote que dejé en Troas en casa de Carpo: y los libros, mayormente los pergaminos. Alejandro el calderero me ha causado muchos males: el Señor le pague conforme á sus hechos. Guárdate tú también de él; que en grande manera ha resistido á nuestras palabras. En mi primera defensa ninguno me ayudó, antes me desampararon todos: no les sea imputado. Mas el Señor me ayudó, y me esforzó para que por mí fuese cumplida la predicación, y todos los Gentiles oyesen; y fuí librado de la boca del león. Y el Señor me librará de toda obra mala, y me preservará para su reino celestial: al cual sea gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Saluda á Prisca y á Aquila, y á la casa de Onesíforo. Erasto se quedó en Corinto; y á Trófimo dejé en Mileto enfermo. Procura venir antes del invierno. Eubulo te saluda, y Pudente, y Lino, y Claudia, y todos los hermanos. El Señor Jesucristo sea con tu espíritu. La gracia sea con vosotros.
