About this prayer
The Jesus Prayer is the heart of Eastern Orthodox spirituality — one sentence, prayed in rhythm with the breath, often counted knot by knot on a chotki (prayer rope). Monks on Mount Athos have prayed it unceasingly for over a thousand years.
