The pride of the height is the firmament in its clearness, The appearance of heaven, in the spectacle of its glory. The sun when he appears, bringing tidings as he goes forth, Is a marvelous instrument, the work of the Most High: At his noon he dries up the country, And who shall stand against his burning heat? A man blowing a furnace is in works of heat, But the sun three times more, burning up the mountains: Breathing out fiery vapours, And sending forth bright beams, he dims the eyes. Great is the Lord that made him; And at his word he hastens his course. The moon also is in all things for her season, For a declaration of times, and a sign of the world. From the moon is the sign of the feast day; A light that waneth when she is come to the full. The month is called after her name, Increasing wonderfully in her changing; An instrument of the army on high, Shining forth in the firmament of heaven; The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars, An ornament giving light in the highest places of the Lord. At the word of the Holy One they will stand in due order, And they will not faint in their watches. Look upon the rainbow, and praise him that made it; Exceeding beautiful in the brightness thereof. It encircles the heaven round about with a circle of glory; The hands of the Most High have stretched it. By his commandment he makes the snow to fall apace, And sends swiftly the lightnings of his judgement. By reason thereof the treasure-houses are opened; And clouds fly forth as fowls. By his mighty power he makes strong the clouds, And the hailstones are broken small: And at his appearing the mountains will be shaken, And at his will the south wind will blow. The voice of his thunder makes the earth to travail; So does the northern storm and the whirlwind: As birds flying down he sprinkleth the snow; And as the lighting of the locust is the falling down thereof: The eye will marvel at the beauty of its whiteness, And the heart will be astonished at the raining of it. The hoar frost also he pours on the earth as salt; And when it is congealed, it is as points of thorns. The cold north wind shall blow, And the ice shall be congealed on the water: It shall lodge upon every gathering together of water, And the water shall put on as it were a breastplate. It shall devour the mountains, and burn up the wilderness, And consume the green herb as fire. A mist coming speedily is the healing of all things; A dew coming after heat shall bring cheerfulness. By his counsel he has stilled the deep, And planted islands therein. They that sail on the sea tell of the danger thereof; And when we hear it with our ears, we marvel. Therein be also those strange and wondrous works, Variety of all that has life, the race of sea-monsters. By reason of him his end has success, And by his word all things consist. We may say many things, yet shall we not attain; And the sum of our words is, He is all. How shall we have strength to glorify him? For he is himself the great one above all his works. The Lord is terrible and exceeding great; And marvelous is his power. When you⌃ glorify the Lord, exalt him as much as you⌃ can; For even yet will he exceed: And when you⌃ exalt him, put forth your full strength: Be not weary; for you⌃ will never attain. Who has seen him, that he may declare him? And who shall magnify him as he is? Many things are hidden greater than these; For we have seen but a few of his works. For the Lord made all things; And to the godly gave he wisdom.

După aceea, Isus străbătea Galilea; nu voia să stea în Iudea, pentrucă Iudeii căutau să -L omoare. Şi praznicul Iudeilor, praznicul zis al Corturilor, era aproape. Fraţii Lui I-au zis: ,,Pleacă de aici, şi du-Te în Iudea, ca să vadă şi ucenicii Tăi lucrările, pe cari le faci. Nimeni nu face ceva în ascuns, cînd caută să se facă cunoscut: dacă faci aceste lucruri, arată-Te lumii.`` Căci nici fraţii Lui nu credeau în El. Isus le -a zis: ,,Vremea Mea n'a sosit încă, dar vouă vremea totdeauna vă este prielnică. Pe voi lumea nu vă poate urî; pe Mine Mă urăşte, pentrucă mărturisesc despre ea că lucrările ei sînt rele. Suiţi-vă voi la praznicul acesta; Eu încă nu Mă sui la praznicul acesta, fiindcă nu Mi s'a împlinit încă vremea.`` Dupăce le -a spus aceste lucruri, a rămas în Galilea. După ce s'au suit fraţii Lui la praznic, S'a suit şi El, dar nu pe faţă, ci cam pe ascuns. Iudeii Îl căutau în timpul praznicului, şi ziceau: ,,Unde este?`` Noroadele vorbeau mult în şoaptă despre El. Unii ziceau: ,,Este un om bun.`` Alţii ziceau: ,,Nu, ci duce norodul în rătăcire.`` Totuş, de frica Iudeilor, nimeni nu vorbea de El pe faţă. Pela jumătatea praznicului, Isus S'a suit la Templu. Şi învăţa norodul. Iudeii se mirau, şi ziceau: ,,Cum are omul acesta învăţătură, căci n'a învăţat niciodată?`` Isus le -a răspuns: ,,Învăţătura Mea nu este a Mea, ci a Celuice M'a trimes pe Mine. Dacă vrea cineva să facă voia Lui, va ajunge să cunoască dacă învăţătura este de la Dumnezeu, sau dacă Eu vorbesc dela Mine. Cine vorbeşte dela sine, caută slava lui însuş; dar cine caută slava Celuice l -a trimes, acela este adevărat, şi în el nu este strîmbătate. Oare nu v'a dat Moise Legea? Totuş nimeni din voi nu ţine Legea. De ce căutaţi să Mă omorîţi?`` Norodul I -a răspuns: ,,Ai drac. Cine caută să Te omoare?`` Drept răspuns, Isus le -a zis: ,,O lucrare am făcut, şi toţi vă miraţi de ea. Moise v'a dat porunca privitoare la tăierea împrejur-nu că ea vine dela Moise, ci dela patriarhi-şi voi tăiaţi împrejur pe om în ziua Sabatului. Dacă un om primeşte tăierea împrejur în ziua Sabatului, ca să nu se calce Legea lui Moise, de ce turbaţi de mînie împotriva Mea, pentrucă am însănătoşat un om întreg în ziua Sabatului? Nu judecaţi după înfăţişare, ci judecaţi după dreptate.`` Nişte locuitori din Ierusalim ziceau: ,,Nu este El acela, pe care caută ei să -L omoare? Şi totuş, iată că vorbeşte pe faţă, şi ei nu -I zic nimic! Nu cumva, în adevăr, cei mai mari vor fi cunoscut că El este Hristosul? Dar noi ştim de unde este omul acesta; însă, cînd va veni Hristosul, nimeni nu va şti de unde este.`` Şi Isus, pe cînd învăţa pe norod în Templu, striga: ,,Mă cunoaşteţi şi Mă ştiţi de unde sînt! Eu n'am venit dela Mine însumi, ci Cel ce M'a trimes, este adevărat, şi voi nu -L cunoaşteţi. Eu Îl cunosc, căci vin dela El, şi El M'a trimes.`` Ei căutau deci să -L prindă; şi nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El, căci încă nu -I sosise ceasul. Mulţi din norod au crezut în El, şi ziceau: ,,Cînd va veni Hristosul, va face mai multe semne decît a făcut omul acesta?`` Fariseii au auzit pe norod spunînd în şoaptă aceste lucruri despre El. Atunci preoţii cei mai de seamă şi Fariseii au trimes nişte aprozi să -L prindă. Isus a zis: ,,Mai sînt cu voi puţină vreme, şi apoi Mă duc la Cel ce M'a trimes. Voi Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni.`` Iudeii au zis între ei: ,,Unde are de gînd să se ducă omul acesta, ca să nu -l putem găsi? Doar n'o avea de gînd să se ducă la cei împrăştiaţi printre Greci, şi să înveţe pe Greci? Ce însemnează cuvintele acestea, pe cari le -a spus: ,Mă veţi căuta, şi nu Mă veţi găsi; şi unde voi fi Eu, voi nu puteţi veni?`` În ziua de pe urmă, care era ziua cea mare a praznicului, Isus a stătut în picioare, şi a strigat: ,,Dacă însetează cineva, să vină la Mine, şi să bea. Cine crede în Mine, din inima lui vor curge rîuri de apă vie, cum zice Scriptura.`` Spunea cuvintele acestea despre Duhul, pe care aveau să -L primească ceice vor crede în El. Căci Duhul Sfînt încă nu fusese dat, fiindcă Isus nu fusese încă proslăvit. Unii din norod, cînd au auzit aceste cuvinte, ziceau: ,,Acesta este cu adevărat Proorocul.`` Alţii ziceau: ,,Acesta este Hristosul.`` Şi alţii ziceau: ,,Cum, din Galilea are să vină Hristosul? Nu zice Scriptura că Hristosul are să vină din sămînţa lui David, şi din satul Betleem, unde era David?`` S'a făcut deci desbinare în norod din pricina Lui. Unii din ei voiau să -L prindă; dar nimeni n'a pus mîna pe El. Aprozii s'au întors deci la preoţii cei mai de seamă şi la Farisei. Şi aceştia le-au zis: ,,De ce nu L-aţi adus?`` Aprozii au răspuns: ,,Niciodată n'a vorbit vreun om ca omul acesta.`` Fariseii le-au răspuns: ,,Doar n'aţi fi fost duşi şi voi în rătăcire? A crezut în El vreunul din mai marii noştri sau din Farisei? Dar norodul acesta, care nu ştie Legea, este blestemat!`` Nicodim, cel care venise la Isus noaptea, şi care era unul din ei, le -a zis: ,,Legea noastră osîndeşte ea pe un om înainte ca să -l asculte şi să ştie ce face?`` Drept răspuns, ei i-au zis: ,,Şi tu eşti din Galilea? Cercetează bine, şi vei vedea că din Galilea nu s'a ridicat niciun prooroc.`` (Şi s'a întors fiecare acasă.

Let us now praise famous men, And our fathers that became the father of us. The Lord manifested in them great glory, Even his mighty power from the beginning. Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, And were men renowned for their power, Giving counsel by their understanding, Such as have brought tidings in prophecies: Leaders of the people by their counsels, And by their understanding men of learning for the people; Wise were their words in their instruction: Such as sought out musical tunes, And set forth verses in writing: Rich men furnished with ability, Living peaceably in their habitations: All these were honored in their generations, And were a glory in their days. There be of them, that have left a name behind them, To declare their praises. And some there be, which have no memorial; Who are perished as though they had not been, And are become as though they had not been born; And their children after them. But these were men of mercy, Whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten. With their seed shall remain continually a good inheritance; Their children are within the covenants. Their seed stands fast, And their children for their sakes. Their seed shall remain forever, And their glory shall not be blotted out. Their bodies were buried in peace, And their name lives to all generations. Peoples will declare their wisdom, And the congregation tells out their praise. Enoch pleased the Lord, and was translated, Being an example of repentance to all generations. Noah was found perfect and righteous; In the season of wrath he was taken in exchange for the world; Therefore was there left a remnant to the earth, When the flood came. Everlasting covenants were made with him, That all flesh should no more be blotted out by a flood. Abraham was a great father of a multitude of nations; And there was none found like him in glory; Who kept the law of the Most High, And was taken into covenant with him: In his flesh he established the covenant; And when he was proved, he was found faithful. Therefore he assured him by an oath, That the nations should be blessed in his seed; That he would multiply him as the dust of the earth, And exalt his seed as the stars, And cause them to inherit from sea to sea, And from the River to the utmost part of the earth. In Isaac also did he establish likewise, for Abraham his father’s sake, The blessing of all men, and the covenant: And he made it rest upon the head of Jacob; He acknowledged him in his blessings, And gave to him by inheritance, And divided his portions; Among twelve tribes did he part them.

1 Timotei 4

Dar Duhul spune lămurit că, în vremile din urmă, unii se vor lepăda de credinţă, ca să se alipească de duhuri înşelătoare şi de învăţăturile dracilor, abătuţi de făţărnicia unor oameni cari vorbesc minciuni, însemnaţi cu ferul roş în însuş cugetul lor. Ei opresc căsătoria şi întrebuinţarea bucatelor, pe cari Dumnezeu le -a făcut ca să fie luate cu mulţămiri de către ceice cred şi cunosc adevărul. Căci orice făptură a lui Dumnezeu este bună: şi nimic nu este de lepădat, dacă se ia cu mulţămiri; pentrucă este sfinţit prin Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu şi prin rugăciune. Dacă vei pune în mintea fraţilor aceste lucruri, vei fi un bun slujitor al lui Hristos Isus, fiindcă te hrăneşti cu cuvintele credinţei şi ale bunei învăţături, pe care ai urmat -o pînă acum. Fereşte-te de basmele lumeşti şi băbeşti. Caută să fii evlavios. Căci deprinderea trupească este de puţin folos, pe cînd evlavia este folositoare în orice privinţă, întrucît ea are făgăduinţa vieţii de acum şi a celei viitoare. Iată un cuvînt adevărat şi cu totul vrednic de primit! Noi muncim, în adevăr, şi ne luptăm, pentrucă ne-am pus nădejdea în Dumnezeul cel viu, care este Mîntuitorul tuturor oamenilor, şi mai ales al celor credincioşi. Porunceşte, şi învaţă aceste lucruri. Nimeni să nu-ţi dispreţuiască tinereţea; ci fii o pildă pentru credincioşi: în vorbire, în purtare, în dragoste, în credinţă, în curăţie. Pînă voi veni, ia seama bine la citire, la îndemnare, şi la învăţătura pe care o dai altora. Nu fi nepăsător de darul care este în tine, care ţi -a fost dat prin proorocie, cu punerea mînilor de către ceata presbiterilor (Sau: bătrîni.). Pune-ţi pe inimă aceste lucruri, îndeletniceşte-te în totul cu ele, pentruca înaintarea ta să fie văzută de toţi. Fii cu luare aminte asupra ta însuţi şi asupra învăţăturii, pe care o dai altora: stăruieşte în aceste lucruri, căci dacă vei face aşa, te vei mîntui pe tine însuţi şi pe cei ce te ascultă.
