Life

Miguel Agustin Pro (1891-1927) was a Mexican Jesuit priest who ministered in secret during the persecution of the Church in the 1920s, celebrating clandestine Masses and bringing the sacraments to Catholics in Mexico City. Executed by firing squad without trial, he died crying 'Viva Cristo Rey!' (Long live Christ the King!). Pope John Paul II beatified him in 1988.
