Life
Albert the Great (c. 1200-1280) was a German Dominican friar, bishop of Regensburg, and Doctor of the Church, remembered as the teacher of Saint Thomas Aquinas. A pioneer in the study of the natural sciences, he wrote extensively on botany, zoology, astronomy, and philosophy, earning the title Universal Doctor. He is the patron of scientists.
