Andrew was the first disciple called by Jesus and the brother of Simon Peter, a Galilean fisherman who brought his brother to Christ. He preached across Greece and, according to tradition, was crucified around the year 60 on an X-shaped cross at Patras. Patron of Scotland, Greece, and fishermen, this apostle is celebrated on November 30.
