Life
Clement I was Bishop of Rome at the end of the first century, the third successor of Saint Peter. His letter to the Church at Corinth, written around the year 96, is one of the earliest Christian documents outside the New Testament and an important early witness to the authority of the Roman Church. According to tradition he died a martyr.
