Life
Bishop of Geneva and a Doctor of the Church, Francis de Sales was renowned for his gentle, patient approach to spiritual direction. With Jane Frances de Chantal he founded the Visitation order, and his 'Introduction to the Devout Life' and 'Treatise on the Love of God' remain spiritual classics. He is the patron of writers and journalists.
