Life
Rose Philippine Duchesne (1769-1852) was a French religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart who sailed to America in 1818 and brought her order to the Missouri frontier, founding schools for settlers and Native Americans. In old age she served the Potawatomi, who called her the Woman Who Prays Always. She persevered through immense hardship and was canonized in 1988.
