Life
Francis Xavier Seelos (1819-1867) was a Bavarian-born Redemptorist priest who served as a missionary and parish priest in the United States. Known for his joyful spirit, powerful preaching, and tireless ministry to immigrants, he died of yellow fever while caring for the sick in New Orleans. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2000.
