Life

Agatha was a young Sicilian woman of noble birth who was tortured and martyred at Catania for refusing to renounce her faith and virginity during the persecution of Decius. Among the most venerated early martyrs, she is named in the Roman Canon. Patron of breast cancer patients and nurses, her feast falls on February 5.
