Life
Twin sister of Saint Benedict and considered the foundress of Benedictine nuns, Scholastica consecrated herself to God in youth and led a community of women near Monte Cassino in Italy. Tradition holds that she and Benedict met once a year for holy conversation; she died around 543, three days after their last meeting. Her February 10 memorial honors the patroness of convulsive children.
