Life
Agnes was a young Roman virgin martyred at about age twelve during the persecution of Diocletian around 304. One of the most celebrated virgin martyrs of the early Church, she is named in the Roman Canon, and each year lambs are blessed on her feast to provide wool for archbishops' pallia. She is the patron of young girls and chastity.
