Life
Aloysius Gonzaga renounced his inheritance as heir to an Italian marquisate to enter the Society of Jesus in Rome. He died there in 1591, aged twenty-three, after contracting plague while nursing the sick during an epidemic. A model of youthful purity and charity, he is patron of youth and students, honored on June 21.
