Life
Boniface, an Anglo-Saxon Benedictine monk born around 675, became the Apostle of Germany, converting vast numbers and organizing the Church across the Germanic lands under papal commission. Famed for felling the sacred Oak of Thor, he was martyred in Frisia in 754. Patron of Germany and brewers, his feast is kept on June 5.
