Life
Cajetan (1480-1547) was an Italian priest from Vicenza who co-founded the Theatines in 1524, a religious order of clergy devoted to Church reform, preaching, and care of the sick. He served in hospitals for incurables and promoted charitable pawnshops, the montes pietatis, to protect the poor from usury. Canonized in 1671, he is invoked as a patron of the unemployed and of job seekers.
