Life
Eusebius (c. 283-371), born in Sardinia, became the first Bishop of Vercelli in northern Italy and was among the first Western bishops to unite monastic community life with the diocesan clergy. Exiled to the East by Emperor Constantius II for refusing to condemn Saint Athanasius, he endured years of harsh treatment for defending the divinity of Christ against Arianism before returning to his see.
