Life
Hilary of Poitiers (c. 310-367) was a bishop and Doctor of the Church who became the foremost defender of orthodox Trinitarian faith against Arianism in the West. Exiled to Phrygia by the Emperor Constantius II, he continued writing, producing his great treatise On the Trinity. He was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1851.
