Life
John Henry Newman (1801-1890) was an Anglican clergyman and a leader of the Oxford Movement who entered the Catholic Church in 1845 and was later made a cardinal. A brilliant theologian, canonized in 2019 and declared a Doctor of the Church, he wrote influential works on the development of doctrine, conscience, and university education.
