Life
Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer (1902-1975) was a Spanish priest who founded Opus Dei in Madrid in 1928, teaching that ordinary work and daily life are a true path to holiness for lay people. His spiritual classic The Way has circulated in millions of copies worldwide. He guided the growth of Opus Dei until his death in Rome, and Pope John Paul II canonized him in 2002.
