Life
Justin, born around 100 in Samaria, was a philosopher who converted to Christianity and became one of the first great Christian apologists. Teaching in Rome, his writings offer invaluable descriptions of early Christian worship and the Eucharist. Beheaded about 165 with several companions, he is patron of philosophers, honored on June 1.
