Life
Peter Julian Eymard (1811-1868) was a French priest who left the Marists to found the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in 1856, dedicated to Eucharistic adoration, and co-founded a parallel congregation for women. Called the Apostle of the Eucharist, he promoted frequent Holy Communion decades before it became common practice. He was canonized by Pope John XXIII in 1962.
