Life

Raymond of Penyafort (c. 1175-1275) was a Catalan Dominican friar and canon lawyer who compiled the Decretals of Gregory IX, the foundation of Church law for nearly seven centuries. He served as the third Master General of the Dominican Order and worked for the evangelization of Muslims and Jews in Spain. He is the patron saint of canon lawyers.
