Feast
Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Feast day
- September 08
Life
This feast celebrates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honored as the dawn of salvation because through her the Savior of the world would come. Celebrated on September 8, nine months after the solemnity of her Immaculate Conception, it is among the oldest Marian feasts, observed in the East by the sixth century and later adopted in Rome.
The saint of the day, every day
