Life
John Chrysostom was a Syrian-born priest of Antioch who became Archbishop of Constantinople and a Doctor of the Church. His eloquent preaching earned him the name Chrysostom, 'golden-mouthed,' and he fearlessly denounced the abuses of the powerful, dying in exile in 407. Honored on September 13, he is patron of preachers and orators.
