Life

Cyril of Jerusalem (c. 313-386) was Bishop of Jerusalem during the turbulent years of the Arian controversy, when he was exiled from his see three times. He is best known for his catechetical lectures, delivered to those preparing for baptism, which remain a vital source for understanding early Christian liturgy and doctrine. He was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1883.
