Life
Oscar Romero (1917-1980) was Archbishop of San Salvador who became a courageous voice for the poor and oppressed as violence engulfed El Salvador. His weekly radio homilies denounced injustice and called for an end to repression. He was assassinated at the altar while celebrating Mass on March 24, 1980, and was canonized by Pope Francis in 2018.
