Life
Frances of Rome (1384-1440) was a Roman noblewoman who balanced forty years of married life with deep prayer and tireless charity, nursing the sick and feeding the poor during plague and famine. She founded the Oblates, a community of women serving Rome's poor without formal vows, and joined it herself after her husband's death. She is the patron saint of automobile drivers.
