Life

Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was a German Benedictine abbess, visionary, composer, physician, and natural historian, one of the most remarkable figures of the Middle Ages. She founded monasteries at Rupertsberg and Eibingen and recorded her mystical visions in works such as Scivias. Pope Benedict XVI declared her a Doctor of the Church in 2012.
