A carpenter of Nazareth, Saint Joseph was the just and righteous husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and foster father of Jesus, guarding and providing for the Holy Family. Honored as a model of humble obedience and honest labor, he is patron of the Universal Church and of workers. His March 19 solemnity celebrates the guardian of the Redeemer.
