Life

Adalbert was born in Bohemia around 956 and became Bishop of Prague in 983. After twice leaving his troubled see, he went as a missionary to the pagan Prussians on the Baltic coast, where he was martyred in 997. His relics were enshrined at Gniezno, and he is honored as a patron of Bohemia and Poland and an apostle of the Christianization of Central Europe.

The saint of the day, every day
