Life
Anthony Zaccaria (1502-1539) was born in Cremona, Italy, and trained as a physician before being ordained a priest. He founded the Clerics Regular of Saint Paul, known as the Barnabites, a religious order devoted to reform of the Church, preaching, and care for the sick. He helped popularize the Forty Hours devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and died at only thirty-six. He was canonized in 1897.
