One of the Twelve Apostles, Thomas earned the name 'Doubting Thomas' for his initial disbelief in the Resurrection, then made the great confession of faith 'My Lord and my God!' Tradition holds he evangelized as far as India, where he was martyred around 72. Honored as patron of India and of architects, he is celebrated on July 3.
