Life

Mary Magdalene de Pazzi (1566-1607) was born to a noble Florentine family and entered the Carmelite monastery of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Florence. Known for ecstatic visions that her fellow nuns recorded as she spoke, she also endured five years of intense spiritual desolation while maintaining her fervent devotion and hidden penance. She was canonized in 1669.
