Life
Pancras was born in Phrygia and brought to Rome as an orphan, where he embraced Christianity and was martyred at age fourteen during the Diocletian persecution, around the year 304. Buried on the Via Aurelia, he became widely venerated, particularly in England, where Saint Augustine of Canterbury dedicated a church to him and many others bear his name. He is honored as a patron of children and of oaths.
