Life
Philip Neri, born in Florence in 1515, founded the Congregation of the Oratory and became known as the Apostle of Rome for his joyful, humane path to holiness. His warmth, humor, and love of sacred music drew countless souls to deeper faith and won him many friends among the poor. Patron of joy and humor, he died in 1595 and is honored each May 26.
