Life

Stephen was one of the first seven deacons chosen by the apostles and the first Christian martyr. Filled with the Holy Spirit, he saw a vision of the Son of Man at God's right hand before being stoned to death around the year 34, praying for his killers as Saul looked on. Patron of deacons and stonemasons, his feast falls on December 26.
